Services

Breastfeeding support home visits £170

For folks living in or very near the London Borough of Sutton, South London, I provide home visits to support you with your breastfeeding and lactation challenges. A home visit involves me visiting for around 2 hours, hearing about your current breastfeeding challenges and goals, taking both a medical and a feeding history, observing a breastfeed / expression / pumping session / top-up and providing suggestions to try during the consultation. Tongue tie assessments and/or weighing baby are available if needed. After the visit I will send you a written plan with links to further resources, and I will signpost you to free sources of further breastfeeding support in South London. Included in the price of the home visit are 2 weeks unlimited phone and WhatsApp text support. If needed, one or more follow-up home visits or video calls can be booked, and text support extended.

About Me

I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

I grew up in Canada and came to the UK in 2003 for postgraduate study. I completed a Doctorate in Epidemiology and worked as an Epidemiologist for over a decade.

I became passionate about breastfeeding support after overcoming  challenges breastfeeding my two daughters. I accessed support in breastfeeding drop-in groups that saved both of my breastfeeding journeys. What began as a plan to “pay it forward” has now become my second career. I first trained as a breastfeeding peer supporter in 2018 and have been supporting families with infant feeding ever since.

Through working in the NHS and as a volunteer, I have experience of supporting families to breastfeed in a huge range of circumstances: preterm birth/low birth weight, twins, previous breast reduction/augmentation, cleft lip and palate, tongue tie, primary low milk supply, breast refusal, faltering growth, baby with Downs syndrome, cancer diagnosis in late pregnancy. I am able to debrief previous breastfeeding challenges and hold space for breastfeeding grief.

Unlike in my voluntary and NHS work, as a private practice lactation consultant IBCLC I am delighted to offer home visits for breastfeeding support to families in my local area in South London. We can spend the time that we need to ensure you feel empowered with the knowledge and skills to improve your breastfeeding journey.

I sat my IBCLC exam in 2022, having accumulated the necessary 1000+ hours of supporting families with breastfeeding.
